Uit die stoel
Na ‘n jaar uit die stoel is ek weer terug in die stoel en hoop om hierdie werk so getrou moontlik te doen deur te bou op die goeie dinge van die verlede maar ook nuwe vars idees te implementeer. Ek is bly om weer terug te wees en sien uit na hierdie jaar as voorsitter van Kempton Road Runners want dit kom saam met ‘n groep lede op die bestuur wat lus is vir werk en hardloop. Saam neem ons die verantwoordelikheid om julle nie teleur te stel nie en alles in ons vermoeë te doen om Kempton Road Runners ‘n lekker hardloop klub te hou.
Hier is plek vir die vinnige spoed vrate, die ernstige comrades of kort afstand atleet, die stapper, die beginner en die atleet wat net vir die prêt deelneem. Almal se families of ondersteuners is ook baie welkom en word uitgenooi om dinsdag aande klub toe te kom en tydtoets te hardloop of sommer net ‘n bier/koeldrank te drink na die tyd. Ons wil graag hê dat elke lid gemaklik moet inskakel en tuis voel.
Should there be any queries, unhappiness or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the club committee directly. We will give attention to all communication. (Contact numbers of all the committee members else where in the news letter.)
I want to take this opportunity to thank Phillip and the 2008 committee for a job well done. Phillip is moving to Port Elizabeth and we are saying good bye to a running partner and friend. Thank you for all our effort and kindness – we will miss you – but enjoy the windy city and the beach.
A hearty welcome to all new members – may you enjoy running for Kempton RR. Please come to the club on a Tuesday or pop in at the club tent at races – we would like to get to know you and be of any assistance.
Oom George Bester, wat vir baie jare die klub sekretaris was, is nie meer op die bestuur nie. Oom George het die administrasie van die klub vir meer as dertig jaar behartig en alles het altyd klopdisselboom verloop. Dit gaan baie vreemd wees sonder hom, ons gaan sy jare ondervinding en toewyding baie mis. Ons gaan verseker ook die ekstra werk wat Oom George altyd uit sy eie gedoen het ook baie mis. Die kroeg en al die kassies en rakkies in die klubhuis het Oom George gebou, Hy het gereeld geskenke geprakseer en gesorg dat alles by die klubhuis altyd reg was. Baie dankie Oom George en wees verseker dat jy altyd in ons harte sal wees.
The function of secretary will be shared by Mark Theunissen (administration) and Vanessa Bowman (CGA registration numbers) and we have faith that they will do a splendid job.
I want to thank every member on the club committee for their willingness and commitment. We are a great team and I look forward to working with you.

Hi Almal
February 2009 nuusbrief.
Neem asb kennis dat daar nie n Gazebo by die valentine wedloop in Randburg gaan wees nie, maar dat hy wel by die PicknPay.
Daar is ook nog 2009 nommers wat verkry kan word by die klub. Ons nooi veral die “ ou lede” wat nog die mail kry en wat dalk nie eens verlede jaar n nommer gehad het nie, om regtig weer by ons te kom aansluit. Jy hoef nie Comrades te hardloop om n lid te wees nie. Jy is self n wenner net om by die begin aan te tree. .
Daar is ook n projek van stapel gestuur deur Phobians om alle hardlopers aan te spoor om nie hul sakkies ens op die roetes te gooi nie, maar om dit eerder by die waterpunt of ten minste in 20 tree van n waterpunt te gooi. Indien jy wel hardloop en later die water gebruik dit dan by jou te hou tot die volgende waterpunt. Kom ons probeer om deel te wees van die projek aangesien dit ons ook raak op die ou einde.

Thanks to everybody who responded and RSVPed for the function on Saturday night.
The function is 18:30 for 19:00 at the club.
Onthou asb eie eetgerei en glase!!!!
Die kinderprogram begin reeds 16:00. Charl het baie lekker aktiwiteite gereed waaraan die kinders en julle as ouers kan deelneem.
We will have a jumping castle throughout the evening.
Ons sien uit daarna om julle daar te sien.

Yearend function
The yearend function will be on Saturday 8 November in a marquee tent at the club. ‘n Kinderprogram sal van 16:00 af aangebied word.
Die prysuitdeling, ete en dans begin 18:30 vir 19:00. Eie eetgerei en glase. The bar will be available.
Kom en geniet ‘n heerlike aand.
Bespreking MOET asb voor 30 Oktober gedoen word by Anlia of deur jou naam by die klub op te skryf. R20 per persoon. (betaling by bespreking, asb).

Hi All
Please be reminded of the club run this Saturday – McCarthy Volkswagen in Pretoria.
The gazebo will be there and we will have a worsbraai afterwards. The race starts at 6:00 at Rietondale Park and a 5km, 10km and 21km will be held.
Kom gerus en kuier saam met die ander klublede. Die togsak sal ook beskikbaar wees om ons sakke, ens in toe te sluit.
Die van julle wat saamrygeleenthede soek, kan more aand by die klub aankom om dit uit te sorteer.

Baie geluk aan almal wat Sondag die Comrades gedoen het. Ons is so trots op julle almal. Julle is ‘n inspirasie vir almal van ons wat nog daarvan droom! Dit was heerlik om julle op die TV te sien. Diegene wat langs die pad was, het dit ook baie geniet!
Onthou asb van die Aches & Pains funksie, 27 Junie. R30 per persoon, R15 laerskoolkinders. NG Hoogland Kairos Sentrum, De Wiekusweg.
Die tema is “Upside down”!! Kom en geniet hierdie aand saam met die res van die klublede en julle gesinne. Hierdie is altyd ‘n baie lekker kuier geleentheid. Daar sal ‘n prys wees vir die persoon wat die beste volgens die tema aangetrek het.
Laat my asb weet wie sal kom sodat ons die spyseniers kan laat weet. Julle kan ook julle name by die klub op ‘n lys skryf.

1.Pasta evening: 6 June: Open to everybody in the club. This is where we will wish all the Comrades athletes good luck. Dit is ook ‘n lekker sosiale geleentheid. Ons wil ook die minder betrokke lede uitnooi om hierdie geleentheid by te woon sodat ons mekaar beter kan leer ken. Dit sal wonderlik wees as al die Comrades atlete dit kan bywoon.
2.Comrades pre-run: 7 June: Laaste keer wat almal in die klub saam met die Comrades atlete ‘n 10km kan doen. Lekker sosiaal – gemaklike pas waarby almal kan inval.
3.1 May : Wally Hayward. Die klubtent gaan hier wees en ons gaan sommer ‘n worsie na die tyd braai. Kom kuier lekker saam na die tyd. Bring ‘n paar rand saam vir iets te drinke.
4.Aches & Pains funksie: 27 Junie. Watch this space for this year’s theme..... All members welcome. Great fun event!
5.Die klubtent sal hierdie naweek by die Remax wedloop wees.
6.Club longrun: 11 May. 2 laps of +-30km. You can do one or 2 laps. Hardus is planning a new route. Persone wat nie die Comrades gaan doen nie, is ook welkom. Please let us know who will take part as we need to plan the support vehicles and snacks. We will make sure that we have enough water and that all support people know the route.
7.New sponsor: We have decided to give a price to the person that will assist us to get a new sponsor for our Nite race. This must be a successful lead, in the sense that he/she will get us a company and contact person and assist us to get the sponsorship. It will therefore not only help to get us a contact number. The price will be a pair of running shoes. The sponsorship should be for R25 000 or more.

Hi Everybody
All the best for 2008! We hope you had a blessed Christmas and that you are all well rested.
Herewith a few important things:
1. Please collect your CGA numbers as soon as possible. We only received a limited number and will have to give unclaimed numbers to new members.
2. Our nite race will be on Wednesday 23 January. Please contact Phillip if you are willing to assist as marshall or help at a waterpoint. This is a lot of fun and good opportunity to get to know other members. We urge everybody to help at this event. Please advertise the race where you go.
3. The helpers races will be on Tuesday, 15 January and/or Saturday, 19 January. You are welcome to take part in any of the 2 or both!
4. Our AGM and “thank you function” will be on Friday 8 February.
5. The gazebo will be at Dischem on Sunday.
The next newsletter will be issued soon with additional info.

9 October 2005 a lot of Kempton runners and especially the Crawlers , will be at the Fred Morrison 15km in Germiston. Race starts at
7am.
